About the Higonokami Blue Paper Steel Titanium L
The Higonokami Blue Paper Steel Titanium L combines traditional Japanese knife-making with a modern titanium handle. Made in Miki City, Japan, this authentic Higonokami features a premium Blue Paper Steel (Aogami) blade paired with a lightweight titanium handle, bringing together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary materials.
The Aogami blade is a premium Japanese carbon steel valued for its excellent edge retention, toughness and ability to take a fine, precise cutting edge. Like traditional Higonokami blades, the knife is built around a simple friction-folder construction rather than a conventional locking mechanism.
The distinctive “chikiri” lever extends from the rear of the blade and provides the point of contact used to control the blade during opening and use. This simple construction eliminates unnecessary moving parts while preserving the unmistakable character of the traditional Higonokami design.
Handcrafted by Nagao Kanekoma Factory in Miki City, Japan, the Higonokami continues a Japanese knife-making tradition dating back to the late 19th century. Nagao Kanekoma is the sole surviving authorised maker of knives bearing the Higonokami name, making this Titanium L a genuine example of the historic Japanese friction-folder design.
With its Blue Paper Steel blade, titanium handle, and classic L-size dimensions, this Higonokami offers a distinctive combination of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary materials for collectors and enthusiasts of authentic Japanese folding knives.
