Kurogane Kazura
About Kurogane Kazura
Kurogane Kazura is the stationery brand of Inoue Tool Works, a Japanese metalworking company founded in 1911. Originally producing traditional hand tools before expanding into chisels, crowbars and attachments for power tools, the company now brings its decades of fire-forging techniques to pens and desk tools.
Maki-hari Ballpoint Pens
The Maki-hari pen is made using a technique originally developed for Japan's first matchlock guns in the 16th century, in which metal is rolled into a tube. It comes in a hammered finish and a forged finish, each in two lengths (110 mm and 130 mm), and includes a genuine leather cap.
Hand-Forged Steel Ruler
Made from 3 mm thick stainless steel, the ruler has a laser-engraved scale numbered in traditional Japanese kanji. It comes in 140 mm and 170 mm lengths, with a snug-fitting genuine leather case.
Forged by Fire, Shaped by Use
Forging above 1,000°C oxidises the stainless steel to brown and black tones. With use, natural wear may reveal the original silver beneath, and the surface gradually develops a unique patina. Each piece is handmade, so colour and surface vary slightly from one to the next. Every piece arrives in a paulownia wooden box, ready to give as a gift.
